Airbus visits ENAC Voliere

Thursday, March 7, 2024, the Airbus TL5 UTM (Unmanned Traffic Management) team have visited ENAC Voliere as part of our Drones & UTM chair partnership.

After some demonstration of automatic tactical deconfliction of 4 drones in motion in the largest aviary in Europe (see photo above), followed by a visit to the fixed-wing and quadcopter drone manufacturing workshop, we were able to discuss Airbus’ future needs around UTM. Among the subjects, the development and fine-tuning of drone performance algorithms that are both realistic and resource-efficient (BADA equivalent for planes) were the important ones. These algorithms, will be used in Airbus ATM simulator (GENETICS) to simulate drone traffic tomorrow, which would help to understand and define how drones will integrate into current air traffic.
